Bodhisattva’s prayer

May I be

Bodhisattva's prayer

May I be a guard to those who are protectorless,
A guide to those who journey on the road,
To those who wish to cross the water,
May I be a boat, a raft, a bridge.

May I be an isle to those who yearn for land,
A lamp to those who long for light,
To all who need a resting place, a bed;
To those who need a servant, may I be of assistance.

May I be the wishing jewel, the vase of plenty,
A word of power and the supreme healing,
May I be the tree of miracles,
And for every being the source of abundance.

Just like the earth and all the elements
That endure as the sky itself endures,
For boundless multitudes of beings,
May I always be their ground and comfort.
